MEG and EEG research at the Martinos Center provides millisecond-scale insight into brain function by measuring the magnetic fields and electrical signals generated by neural activity. Investigators develop and apply advanced acquisition, source-localization, and multimodal integration methods to map brain dynamics underlying perception, cognition, language, and motor function, as well as disorders such as epiepsy and neurodevelopmental conditions. By capturing real-time neural signaling and combining it with structural and metabolic imaging, this work reveals how brain networks operate moment to moment, enabling both fundamental discoveries and improved clinical evaluation.
