WiS: Gender Diversity – What Everyone Needs to Know
November 18, 2020 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Please note you should register in advance for this webinar (link at bottom).
Are you involved in human research, whether as a PI, a postdoc, a research
coordinator, or anything in between? Do you ever work with other human
beings? If either of those are true, join us for this event to find out what
you should know about the gender spectrum. Healthcare has begun to make
strides in addressing the needs of transgender and other gender diverse
people, while many areas of research have been slower to adapt. It’s
crucial for researchers to understand the differences between sex and gender,
the terminology around gender diversity, and how to create a safe and
comfortable environment for transgender and gender diverse people, at work,
in the lab, and in the world at large.
If you screen or talk to research participants, or are in charge of those who
do, and you’ve ever felt uncertain about how to respectfully ask questions
about gender, felt confused about when and how to use pronouns, come to this
talk! If you’re not sure how to support a colleague who’s come out as
transgender or nonbinary, bring your questions! If you’re not sure how this
is relevant to your work or life, come find out!
