Welcome

The Low-field MRI and Hyperpolarized Media Laboratory at the Athinoula A. Martinos Center for Biomedical Imaging focuses on spin-polarized materials and their use as magnetic tracers in vivo. The lab is working to develop orientation-variable imaging of human lung function with polarized 3He, and have established a research program based around a custom-made 6.5 mT scanner which we are continuing with our pulmonary collaborators. We plan to correlate our MRI measurements of pulmonary perfusion and ventilation with those obtained from other imaging modalities such as PET imaging.
